The Mammography Department performs diagnostic imaging of the breast to screen for radiographic indications of malignancy. Mammography is a quick and easy test that can often detect a lump even before it is large enough to feel. Our mammography department offers a private comfortable setting staffed by professionals who are sensitive to a woman's concerns. When you visit our mammography department we will perform your exam as well as provide training in breast self exam techniques. We encourage all woman to practice regular self breast examinations and discuss the need for regular mammograms with their physicians. Our technologist are always available to answer your questions.
Our services include evening hours until 6:30 p.m. and we welcome Thomas employees. We will accommodate add-ons whenever possible and will work around your schedule to help avoid using a day off.
Pictured left is the new digital mammography unit with R2 Image Checker purchased in October 2004. The acquisition of digital images combined with CAD (Computer Aided Detection) provides greater image enhancement opportunities. Together these two applications are setting the gold standard for the detection of microcalcifications and masses that may be indications of breast cancer.
Our facility and the physicians who interpret our exams are both accredited by the American College of Radiology and the Food and Drug Administration. All of our mammography technologist are registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist with advanced registry in mammography.
